The
Fender Mexico Factory A
Photo Tour Acoustic
Guitars Most
of the fender brand acoustics are made in Indonesia, but some
of the sub assemblies for the high-end guitars are made here. |
| In
our first photo we see a drying room with raw slabs of wood.
The wood located in this room will actually be used in the production
of Guild guitars. Not only bodies, but also complete neck
assembles are made here. |

 |
In our
next photo you see our friend, Ruben with one of the supervisors
in the Acoustic area. Notice
in the background, how clean the factory is. You find it this
way in all the photos. The factory was spotless.
I’ve pretty much concluded
that they keep it that way all the time. You can tell
when a place has been cleaned up quickly. Plus, I doubt
they would clean it to that level just for me. I’d be
flattered, but I doubt it.
|
| In this
next photo we see the machines used to cut the wood for the
acoustic guitars. Notice
the big vent hoses on each machine. These are used to suck
the sawdust away from the machine and the worker. They
are extremely dust conscious down there, and make every effort
to make sure it has been eliminated.
You will notice this
throughout the factory.

 |
On the
left side of the picture, inside the green frame you will notice
a bending jig of some sorts. I’m not 100% sure, but I
believe it’s used to bend the sides of the acoustic guitars.
That’s the general shape of the jig. I
was pretty overwhelmed by the factory, so you will have to
bear with me, I could not memorize every detail.
|
| Here we see one of the
craftsmen building a neck. |
 |
 |
Acoustic guitars in
different stages of build. Now
this is an interesting picture. On the left you see
necks, in the middle are the sides of the acoustic guitars,
and on the right you see sides with the backs put on them.
|
| Now this is what I was
telling you about. It was lunchtime when we went through
this part of the tour. These men were so engrossed in
their work, they decided to work through their lunch hour. |

Where
do we go from here? Amplifier cabinets, of course!
