Whether you use a lot of pedals or just a few, I’m sure
you’ll agree that they can be a pain in the neck to
transport. Even if you move them just once in a while, even
just that can be enough for you to start eyeing a pedal board.
However,
if you’re like me there is always one thing that stops
you…THE PRICE.
Even the smallest pedal board will end up costing around $70.00.
When I first saw the Electro Harmonix pedal bag, I was intrigued.
A soft-sided pedal transport system with a street price of
only about $40.00?
This just might be the ticket!
It
arrived in a huge box that was large enough to fit a guitar.
My wife took saw the box and even accused me of buying a new
guitar! Pulling it out of the box, the pedal board ended up
being much larger than I thought it would be. More than large
enough to fit my small collection of pedals.
The
bag comes with a Velcro stripped bottom with a rigid board
build inside to add stability to the mounting surface. A generous
supply of Velcro comes with the bag to affix to the bottom
of your pedals so you can stick them to the bottom.
The
padded top zips snugly to the bottom and keeps the pedals
from moving. The top combined with the bottom and the Velcro
strips really keeps them in place when they are being transported.
It
also comes with padded dividers, but for the life of me, I
can’t figure out how to use them. They seem to get in
the way when you connect the pedals. Maybe they would come
into play if you divided your pedals into sub-chains.
The
back of the bottom is flat so you can run your cables in and
out easier, and they added nice little Velcro “window”
flaps that can be pulled open for easy access to side in and
outputs, like a Wah, or a Boss pedal.
All
in all, it has worked out to be a very functional unit. It’s
large enough for a decent sized pedal collection, easy to
transport, and at a price that just makes sense!
